When the earth stands still
Since its debut in spring 2024, Ensemble Lyyra has already taken a prominent place in the international choral landscape. It was founded by the VOCES8 Foundation with the aim of promoting the voice of women in choral music. The ensemble’s name refers to the universal harmony of music and is derived from the constellation that represents Orpheus’ famous lyre. The line-up integrates six great talents with different musical backgrounds, from classical vocal training to jazz and pop singing to folk music of various traditions. The result is an impressively rich spectrum of timbres and a dense, unmistakable ensemble sound, which is ideally conveyed in this stylistically extraordinarily varied programme. Lyyra stands for emotional, inspiring and in every respect extraordinary performances.
